Abstract

Cities that are in a period of rapid change from day to day are the whole of social, political, economic, historical and cultural developments. Urban spaces, which have the cultural traces of many societies that have lived in the historical process, have a precaution in terms of urban identity and community memory in their daily life. As a result of the changes brought about by the globalization, cities become unified with the destruction of the spaces, the loss of the value of the collective memory, the damage of the identity, and this situation becomes a matter of debate. Denizli, one of the only typified cities, has hosted many civilizations and houses concrete and untouched cultural heritage values which are depicted as a reflection of their beliefs, knowledge and traditions. However, after accumulating these values in the 1950s, globalization began to disappear rapidly. For this reason, the Hulusi Oral House, which is located in Denizli city center and has an important place in terms of urban identity and city memory, was taken up from the registered immovables. Within the scope of the study, Hulusi Oral house, which is the only example with the cihannuma in the city, was examined by referring to the general characteristics of Denizli traditional residential land. In this context, the history of the Hulusi Oral House, which has a different place in the memory of the city, discusses the architectural characteristics and the structural deterioration caused by being abandoned to fate and the problems of preservation of the structure. The studies; field trials, archives of accessible institutions and literature survey. As a result of the study, problems arising from the terrestrial origins of Hulusi Oral House in historical structures have been put forward and the importance of the city memory has been emphasized.
