Abstract

Sâmiha Ayverdi follower of a Sufi leader Kenan Rifai, wrote specially on ordinary people, such as „‟herself‟‟- being between the other people surrendiring themselves- and Allah. Ayverdi also focused on Anatolia‟s Turkish- muslim identity. From 1938 since 1946 the woman author produced ten books, in which eight of them were conservatist novels. Having chance of discussing her thoughts with very high intellectuals of her time such as Necip Fazıl and Yahya Kemal, Ayverdi‟s political and social discorse used to match with none of them. Despite Yusuf Akçura and Beyatlı being successors of their time against modernism, Sâmiha Ayverdi seemed like a pathetic loser against the renewal time of Ottomans and the newrepublic still being formed. In this article Sâmiha Ayverdi is being discussed on her political and social views. In this study, it is revealed how the social and political views of a female conservative differ in masculine conservative thought. In this context, thoughts from the world of ideas of a woman will contribute to the field.
