Abstract

The aim of the study is to examine the motivations of the Z generation in the first step of the accounting profession. In order to achieve this aim, the relationship between the variables of the gender of the students, the type of high school they graduated from, the order of preference of the associate degree department, their desire to complete their undergraduate education with the vertical transfer exam and their desire to be a member of the accounting profession, and their motivation levels were tried to be revealed. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to 246 students studying at Kocaeli University Hereke Ömer İsmet Uzunyol Vocational School Accounting and Tax Applications department. It was tried to determine whether the students of the Accounting and Tax Applications department differ in terms of the specified variables or not with the t and ANOVA tests. According to the results obtained in the study, while the motivations of the students differ statistically according to the variables of gender, the order of choosing a department and the desire to be a member of the accounting profession, there is no significant difference according to the type of high school they graduated from and their desire to make a vertical transfer.
