Abstract

In this paper, Abdulhamid Han Mosque in Kahramanmaraş (completed 2010), the fourth biggest mosque which is built in Republican period (the first biggest mosque is İstanbul Çamlıca Mosque [2019], the second one is Ankara Kocatepe Mosque [1987], and the third one is Adana Sabancı Merkez Mosque [1998]), is handled. In the introduction, mosque architecture of today was briefly explained after some information was given on early Ottoman mosque architecture and the development of central dome which reached its peak in Sinan period. The mosques which Abdülhamid Han Mosque was affected in term of architecture were disclosed. In first section, the architectural features of Abdülhamid Han Camii were explained. In the second section, it was dwelt on the ornamental features of the mosque. In the discussion and compare section, similarities between Abdülhamid Han Mosque and Ottoman religious constructions were compared in terms of material, technique, ornamentation, plan and structure. In this section, similarities and differences between Ottoman architecture and Abdülhamid Han Mosque were shown. At the end, the paper was enriched with drawings and photographs.
