THE USE OF CULTURAL ELEMENTS FROM PAST TO THE PRESENT COLONIAL PURPOSES

Abstract

Anthropology is a human science. Culture is the cumulative civilization of man. The science of anthropology examines the human and its culture. It is the ethnology that classifies people according to their cultural basis. After the 18th century culture became a science. In this study, there are similarities and differences between different cultures. The resulting cultural patterns include the basis of the behavior of the society and the motives that drive it. The area of anthropology is broad. Perhaps one of the most important of these areas is the area of culture. The area of anthropology's interest in culture is called Social or Cultural Anthropology. This discipline has emerged primarily in the UK and the United States. Antropology has been teaching at Oxford University since 1884, and at Cambridge University since 1900s. Cultural anthropologists; contribute to improving understanding among societies by examining how culture changes over time and how they differ by interacting with other cultures. But this is not always the case. In fact, although it is contrary to ethical values, it is seen that the culture of the society, which is often wanted to be influenced by the colonial powers, is penetrated and the target society is weakened by the information obtained. In this study, how to use the culture of societies for colonial purposes throughout the history and today will be examined.
