THE ORIGINS OF THE GLOBALIZATION CONCEPT

Abstract

Globalization concept can be defined as a worldwide process involving political, economic and cultural fields and involving the multidirectional flow of people, objects and information and the various structures created by them. As difficult as explaining this concept based on a single scientific discipline, it is also necessary to use other sciences in determining its limits. It is certain that the roots of this concept, which is generally tried to be limited to the beginning and after of industrialization, go back further. Indeed, in an understanding that ignores the past in order to create new concepts, there are breaks from the past and it is not possible to solve the problems that arise. Globalization is not a new concept. With the existence of human beings, there is a more or less continuous spread of knowledge and culture, although not as fast as today. In short, every period of history has contained global phenomena within itself, but these slow-growing processes have accelerated with the development of transportation and communication and continue to accelerate gradually. In a sense, this spreading process is metaphorized as the solid form first liquid and then evaporation.With this study, it will be tried to reveal information about the roots of the concept of globalization based on information about anthropology and culture. Thus, it will be possible to understand the problems brought about by globalization as well as contributing to a better understanding of the concept of globalization.
