Abstract

Single works that interpret a single ayat or a group of ayat of Quran, majority of which are in manuscript libraries, are too many. Researching and revealing of these have importance with regards to the History of Tafsir. In this study, as a contribution to these activities, Tefsîru Âyeti’l-Kur’ân which is present in Kastamonu Manuscript Library were examined. Such kind of works may be present in our libraries as independent single books or in general, in the form of tractates which constitute the books. The author of the Tefsîru Âyeti‟l-Kur‟ân , which is in the Kastamonu Manuscript Library, is noted to be Takıyyuddîn Ahmed b. Alî el-Makrîzî (769- 845/1367-1441) while the scribal is Ahmed b. el-Lubhidî Muhammed b. Tolun. It was written in 820 (1417), the date of copy is 881 (1475), and the place of copy is noted as Damascus. This work is among the 212 b-220 foils of the work recorded under the 1122/17 number of Kastamonu Manuscript Library. In the book, which is listed as the Tefsîru Âyeti‟l-Kur‟ân in the catalogue, hermeneutics of the “tevefenni muslimen”, a part of the prayer of the Prophet Joseph‟s (pbuh) in the verse 12 of the surah Joseph (101), is made. The work figures as Risâle fî Suâli Hâtimeti'l-Hayri in the naming of the list, added in the new Turkish to the book where the book exists. It is not understood to be an hermeneutics of verse from this naming. The author of the work is noted as "Ahmed b. Alî el-Makrizî" in the release record. Although the date of the publication is "820 (1417)" in the catalogue information, the date was given as “11 Recep 829 Monday”. While the name of the work is Tefsîru Âyeti‟l-Kur‟ân in the catalogue, it should be "Tefsîru/Risâle fî Tefsîri Âyeti 'teveffenî muslimen'", to name it in accordance with other namings. Our study will make a content analysis of the work and its evaluation in terms of hermeneutics.
