Abstract

In our day, when the rapid and continuous change forces organizations to transform, the need for a transformational leader increases day by day. While studies carried out in the past focus on the outcomes of transformational leadership, this study targets measuring the transformational leadership perception of young people who are in the phase of beginning their work life and thus differs from other studies. Within this context, in order to measure the transformational leadership perception; the age, education level, gender, and grade point average of young people were used and research data were obtained by applying a questionnaire to a total of 280 undergraduate and graduate students in a foundation university. Three hypotheses were developed for the research; these hypotheses were tested with a Two Factor Variance Analysis and a Multiple Regression Model. The results showed that the perception of transformational leadership in young people differed with respect to education level, that the main factor which affected the education level was age, and that the transformational leadership perception of young people increased with increase in age. In the last part of the study, the theoretical and practical outcomes of the results were also discussed.
