ON THE CHARACTERISTIC OF READING AND UNDERSTANDING THE QUR'AN

Abstract

In the first part, this study has a reading in the sense of recitation and in the second part it contains the suggestions for reading and understanding how to understand them. Based on the findings, suggestions on how to reach a correct reading while reading the Qur'an will be presented with examples including obvious mistakes. It is important to clarify the issue by evaluating the results of some previous studies on the reading of the Qur'an, and the data obtained from the sources. Therefore, the study aims to combine two different readings such as reading to understand with reading for worship. There are important rules of reading the Qur'an, such as adherence to tajweed starting from the origins and adjectives of letters. Pronouncing letters with correct sounds is a step towards making the recitation correct. However, correct ejecting a letter is not enough to read the Qur'an correctly. Readings made without observing the adjective rules of the letters and the rules of tajweed were considered wrong by the Qiraat scholars. The person who reads the Qur'an should refrain from a reading that distorts his meaning. One should reach a sufficient level in a acceptable reading for worship and know the method to accomplish this.Reading to understand the Qur'an is like reading it with the correct pronunciation that has a period extending from the period of the Prophet to the present day. This reading is nothing but an effort to understand and interpret the word of Allah from the coming of the present. The Qur'an, which has been the main subject of Islamic sciences throughout Islamic cultural history, continues to be the subject of understanding efforts in every setting, especially in theology faculties. While reading the Qur'an is the subject of science of Qiraat, it is the subject of science of interpretation of reading exegesis to understand it. This study will also attempt to demonstrate the support of two types of reading. Therefore, the text aims to be a product that defines, interprets and evaluates the ways of both in a separate way.
