Abstract

In addition to being one of the cornerstones of a society, the family institution is also the place where social life is first formed. It is an issue that sociologists agree on with the fact that the environment of the personality of the individual will contribute to the formation of a strong society. Therefore, various rules and sanctions have been developed on the family in order to strengthen the social structure. The Crimean Khanate is almost identical to the social life in the Ottoman Empire because it built the legal system on the Hanafi sect of Islamic Law. The most important factor is that the Ottoman madrasa education is also effective in Crimea. The education of the Crimean students in the madrasas in many Ottoman cities, especially in Istanbul, and the fact that the teachers working in the Ottoman madrasas have gone to the Crimea and provided education-training have brought together the association in the field of law and education. In this sentence, similar practices are seen in issues such as marriage, divorce, alimony, custody and inheritance which constitute the main elements of our study. As a matter of fact, the main source of our research is the Sharia Registry of the Crimean Khanate and the examples of unique data about the family in the registry.
