Abstract

Contemporary people have to face a certain amount of stress both in their daily life and in working life, which covers an important period of their daily activities. Accurate and fast diagnosis of the sources of this stress is crucially important in reducing the negative consequences of stress, which enforces people to spend a tremendous amount of effort beyond their limits, due to incompatible conditions in terms of physical and social environments. In addition, not only people but also all (private-public) institutions, as a result of the globalizing world, have to survive against the everevolving environment, changes, and global competition. The main factor in the success of organizations in this environment depends on the motivation of employees so that they could do their best in terms of production. The stress experienced in working life significantly affects individual working motivation. Motivation is the process of individuals acting with their own will to achieve a certain goal. This study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between the stress and motivation of women workers in Adıyaman University Training and Research Hospital and to reveal how the work motivation of these women is affected as a result of this stress. Questionnaires are conducted with 526 participants working in Adıyaman University Training and Research Hospital. The analysis of the data obtained from the questionnaires is analyzed through statistical evaluation programs. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) and Bartlett's tests, factor analysis, validity and reliability analysis, frequency analysis, correlation and regression tests, and Anova tests are applied to the data. The findings of the research suggest that there is a weak positive relationship between stress and motivation.
