Abstract

This study aims to examine the relations between urban civilization and democracy. Ever since, the lifestyles and civilization levels of societies are expressed in close relation to their modes of production. There is also a direct interaction between the environments we live in and our lifestyles. The city has become an area where culture and civilizations evolved and democracy was matured. The phenomenon of the city, civilization and democracy were born from the composition of the two seemingly contradictory ideas; obedient thought, the product of established communities and self-sufficient and individual effortbased willingness adopted by nomadic communities is a self-sufficient and individual effort-based will, adopted by nomadic communities. This compound will be shaped by city revolution as a result of thousands of years of struggles. City, civilization and democracy is the product of two major revolutions, the Neolithic and the Industrial Revolution, which shapes human history.
