DETERMINING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEADERSHIP STYLES, BURNOUT AND CREATIVITY: AN İMPLEMENTATİON IN HOTEL BUSINESS IN ANKARA

In the globalizing world, increase the of knowledge accumulation and the rapid development of technology have dragged businesses into an intense competition. Technically active businesses benefit best from technology. However, enterprises operating in the service sector benefit from technology with a limited extent. The tourism sector, where face-to-face communication is intense, can also use technology with a limited extent. In this respect, it is the primary purpose for hotel enterprises to make the most effective use of human resources. In particular, the creative ideas of those who work in open for improvement, such as the kitchen, are factor to provide value for the business. Considering the recent trends in travel trends towards food and beverage tourism (Arısoy, 2009), the importance of kitchen benefit emerges. Effective use of creativity in the kitchen and competitive advantage to the business can be achieved by determining the burnout perception and leadership style of the employee in a in particular. In this study, the relationship between leadership behavior, burnout and occupational creativity was revealed. The influence of burnout on the creativity of the cooks, the extent to which the cooks experienced the burnout dimension and the effect of leadership behavior on burnout and creativity were examined. Following the conceptual framework prepared by the literature survey made in the national and international arena, a questionnaire was applied to 320 chefs working in four and five star hotels which have tourism business document in Ankara. The data obtained from the application were analyzed and interpreted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) package programs. The results of the research were evaluated by frequency analysis, one-factor ANOVA test, t-test, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. According to the findings obtained in the research, significant relationships were found between leadership behavior, burnout and employee creativity. Leadership behaviors have been found to have a partial mediating effect between burnout and working creativity.
